Drone attack on Putin’s helicopter — a Kremlin fabrication, says media

The story of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s helicopter coming under attack by Ukrainian drone forces turned out to be a carefully staged production, The Moscow Times reports.
According to sources cited by The Moscow Times, Russian security forces circulated this shocking "risky" episode in the media to convince Russians that Putin is not hiding behind others but is supposedly also taking risks and making sacrifices.
"Amid regular drone strikes, chaos at airports, and mobile network outages, this TV performance is meant to create the image of Putin 'sharing dangers' with the country and thus tell society — 'at war, it’s war,'" the outlet writes.
It is noted that Putin was indeed in the Kursk region. According to the official version, the Kremlin leader was traveling there by helicopter. However, officials say his security was ensured at the highest level.
"No one would ever allow such criminal negligence. Not even in their worst nightmare," said one official close to the presidential administration and familiar with the president’s security system.
Putin’s visit to the Kursk region
On May 21, the Kremlin claimed that Putin allegedly visited the Kursk region. Russia asserts that Putin visited Kursk and Kurchatov, which is located less than 100 km from the border with Ukraine.
At the time, Russia also claimed that Putin visited the Kursk NPP-2, which is under construction. However, neither the Kremlin nor Russian media provided any evidence of Putin’s trip to the Kursk region.
