On the night of June 20, Russian troops massively attacked Odesa, Kharkiv, and their suburbs. Dozens of people were injured in the Russian attack, according to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the President of Ukraine, 20 people were injured in the Russian strikes, including:

  • 2 children aged 12 and 17
  • 3 rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

One person was also reported killed in Odesa.

In total, Russian troops launched 86 drones at Ukraine that night, most of which were Shaheds.

"Once again, residential buildings, ordinary businesses, civilian infrastructure, and vehicles were set ablaze. I thank our rescuers – 132 employees and over 30 units of equipment were deployed at the sites. In the Kharkiv region, response efforts are still ongoing," he adds.

Increasing pressure on Russia

According to Zelenskyy, Russia should receive a strong response for the strikes on Ukraine, which will hit Russia's ability to wage war.

"The G7 countries and the EU know the recipe: strong pressure, sanctions against the energy sector and the shadow fleet, a price tag of $30 for Russian oil. The sooner the sick people in the Kremlin lose the ability to finance the war, the more lives we can save in Ukraine," he added.

Russian strikes on Ukraine on the night of June 20

Russia systematically strikes Ukraine with various types of weapons, from missiles and drones to air bombs and artillery. Such attacks often result in damage to civilian infrastructure, which poses a particular danger to civilians.

Russia strikes with drones every day. For example, on the night of June 20, 86 drones were launched from 6 different directions.

In Kharkiv, the first Russian attack began after 11 p.m. Kyiv time. Fires broke out in the city, and a high-rise building was damaged. At around 2 a.m. Kyiv time, Russians struck again.

In Odesa, during a Russian attack on a 23-story residential building, the 18th, 19th, and 20th floors caught fire.
