Migrants reach mainland Spain

A boat carrying dozens of people approached the coast near La Manga Club on August 19.

The migrants began jumping from the boat into the water and making their way to shore on their own. The incident unfolded in front of tourists on the beach.

According to eyewitnesses, some people were shocked by what they saw and began leaving the beach, while others called the police.

Migration crisis in Ceuta

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that hundreds of migrants staged a protest on a city beach in Ceuta, demanding asylum in Spain. They were among several thousand people stranded in the enclave following a mass border breach two weeks earlier.

It was also reported that the migration crisis in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta escalated sharply in mid-July. Around 60,000 people crossed into the city within a single day.

In addition, leaders of several European countries called for Spain’s participation in the Schengen Area to be suspended over the large-scale migration crisis in Ceuta.
