Double strike: Rescuers show aftermath of Russian attack on central Odesa

Ten people, including two State Emergency Service workers, were injured in a Russian double strike on central Odesa in Ukraine on September 18, according to the Odesa Regional Military Administration and State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Second strike during rescue operations
Russian forces launched a second strike on the central part of the city while emergency and response crews were already working at the site of the initial strike.
The attack hit an 11-story administrative building.
Civilian deaths were avoided because people were in a shelter at the time of the first strike.
Ten people were injured in the attack:
- Three people were hospitalized
- Seven confirmed casualties received medical assistance at the scene
- Two of those injured were State Emergency Service rescuers.
All those injured are currently in stable condition, and their lives are not in danger.
Response efforts
The strike sparked a fire that engulfed several floors of the administrative building and also damaged vehicles.

The State Emergency Service deployed more than 70 firefighters to deal with the aftermath of the attack. They have now completely extinguished the fire.
State Emergency Service psychologists continue to work at the scene to assist people.
At the direction of the regional administration, First Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Kharlov arrived to coordinate the response.
Odesa in Ukraine under Russian strikes
As reported, Russian forces have carried out massive attacks on Odesa for two days in a row.
In particular, on the night of September 17, Russia struck the city, damaging a 19-story residential building and several private homes. One of the houses was destroyed, and six people, including two children, were injured.
In addition, on September 18, Russian forces targeted a crowded area in central Odesa with a jet-powered drone.
