Russia considers the conditions of the US peace plan more acceptable than those proposed by Europe. The Kremlin also believes that Washington will soon initiate the start of discussions on the document, states Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian President, according to Russian media.

According to him, "many provisions" of the American plan seem acceptable to Russia. At the same time, he stressed that the European document does not suit the aggressor state.

"At first glance, the plan is completely unconstructive and does not suit us," Ushakov said.

The aide to the Russian leader noted that there is currently no information about who exactly and when might come to Russia for in-person discussions of the peace plan.

"One can assume that the Americans will soon reach out to us in order to meet face-to-face and begin discussions," Ushakov remarked.

He added that the Kremlin is ready for dialogue on the peace plan, but taking into account its own conditions and interests.

US peace plan

Last week, the US peace plan for Ukraine became known. It included 28 points of proposals that outlined a new format for negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine.

The document envisaged that the Donetsk and Luhansk regions would come under full Russian control. At the same time, it set a limit for Ukraine’s army at up to 600,000 personnel.

Against this backdrop, Ukrainian officials met with US representatives in Geneva to adjust the peace plan.

Today, November 24, the Financial Times reported that the US peace plan had been reduced by almost a third. As a result, it now contains 19 points instead of 28.
