How to protect yourself from viruses in winter
Discussing fermented garlic honey, health experts have analyzed the shift from over-the-counter medications to home remedies this winter and highlighted the primary benefits of garlic and honey in preventing cold and flu symptoms.
Fermented garlic honey is a natural health remedy created by infusing raw garlic cloves in honey, allowing them to ferment over time.
Health specialist Riza Fomachan explains why garlic and honey are essential foods for maintaining health during the winter.
According to the expert, both garlic and honey have proven benefits year-round, but they are particularly helpful in supporting our health during winter. Garlic is rich in prebiotic inulin fiber, which promotes gut health and is believed to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties that fight illness and alleviate cold symptoms. Additionally, it contains high levels of antioxidant flavonoids and polyphenols, which help balance the immune system and prevent illness," the expert stated.
One study involving 41,000 women aged 55 to 69 found that those who regularly consumed garlic, fruits, and vegetables had a 35% lower risk of developing colon cancer.
The benefits don’t stop there, as garlic is also good for the heart.
Research has shown that garlic can positively impact arteries and blood pressure. Scientists believe red blood cells convert sulfur in garlic into hydrogen sulfide.
This process helps dilate blood vessels, making it easier to regulate blood pressure.
