Did Russian forces enter Kupiansk’s outskirts? Local authorities respond

Russian forces have not entered the outskirts of Kupiansk in Kharkiv region. Fighting continues in a neighboring community, according to Andrii Kanashevych, head of the Kupiansk City Military Administration, during a televised marathon.
Earlier, the DeepState service claimed that Russians had allegedly entered residential areas of Kupiansk. Kanashevych, however, denied this.
"In fact, DeepState is jumping the gun. There are no Russians in Kupiansk. The fighting is indeed happening on the outskirts – in a neighboring community. The military keeps informing me that they are putting up a strong defense. The enemy is sending more and more forces every day to fulfill their dream of capturing Kupyansk," said the head of the city administration.

He noted that Kupyansk is a very important target for the enemy, as after the 2022 occupation, the Russians established a so-called "administration" there. Kanashevych added that the entire territory of Kupiansk and its surrounding community remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to him, the situation in the city remains critical – there is no electricity, water, or gas, and repair work is impossible due to heavy shelling.
"The destruction is simply catastrophic. Over 90% of the city has been destroyed or damaged. But most importantly, many people still remain in the city, within the community. That’s 1,800 residents in the community and 760 residents directly on the right bank of Kupiansk," he added.
Fighting for Kupiansk
Recall that Kupiansk is a city in Kharkiv region that was occupied by Russian forces at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In the fall of 2022, Ukrainian troops liberated the city, but fighting continues near Kupiansk.
Recently, local authorities reported that Kupiansk is 95% destroyed and the situation remains critical. According to the military, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have blocked enemy advances in Kupiansk.
Videos have also circulated online showing Russians allegedly crossing the Oskil River via a gas pipeline and entering the outskirts of Kupiansk.
