Denmark has delivered a large shipment of ammunition for the cannons mounted on Ukraine’s F-16 fighter jets. The weapons are an effective means of countering Russian jet-powered drones, according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
“Denmark has fast-tracked the delivery of more than 50,000 rounds of 20 mm ammunition for the onboard cannons of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Ukrainian pilots are already using them to intercept jet-powered attack drones,” the ministry said.
The report states that the prompt delivery of the ammunition is directly important for strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and protecting people from Russian air attacks.
“Today, F-16s are one of the most effective means of countering jet-powered Shahed drones, so maintaining sufficient ammunition stocks is essential to destroying them effectively,” the Defense Ministry added.
Earlier reports said Ukrainian air defense forces had significantly improved their success rate in shooting down enemy jet-powered drones over Kyiv, raising the interception rate from approximately 57% in September to more than 80%.
Meanwhile, late August and September 2026 proved to be a major challenge for the capital as Russia deployed its new jet-powered drones in large numbers.
As previously reported by Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Russia launches jet-powered drones at Kyiv in waves. The main goal of this tactic is to exhaust Ukraine’s air defense system and disrupt daily life in the capital through repeated air raid alerts.
