Democrat congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has sparked outrage after mocking Texas Governor Greg Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, at an LGBTQ benefit in Los Angeles, Fox News reports.

While speaking at a Human Rights Campaign benefit in Los Angeles, Democratic Representative from Texas Jasmine Crockett referred to Republican Governor Greg Abbott as "Governor Hot Wheels."

"We in these hot-a** Texas streets, honey. Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there, come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-a** mess, honey!" she said, laughing.

Abbott was paralyzed in 1984 after a tree fell on him while he was jogging, severely injuring his spine.

The backlash came swiftly. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) stated, "Top Democrat spokeswoman Jasmine Crockett was applauded after mocking the Texas Governor’s disability. This is who represents the Democratic Party today."

Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin added, "For the record: Greg Abbott became paralyzed when a massive oak tree fell on him. But sure, call him ‘Hot Wheels."

Crockett’s controversial remarks

Recently, in an interview about how Democrats can win in Texas, Crockett said, "I think you punch. You have to be ready to punch." She went on: "It’s Ted Cruz. I mean, seriously, this dude needs to be hit over the head — hard. You can’t be nice with him — you go all in."

For these comments, former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi warned Crockett: "Tread carefully, or face legal consequences."

Senator John Cornyn harshly condemned Crockett’s rhetoric: "Her remarks are disgraceful. Imagine if a Republican had said something like that — it would be on the front page of The New York Times."

Conservative commentators also joined the criticism, with political activist Charlie Kirk calling Crockett "a disgrace to Congress" for mocking someone "injured in a tragic accident at the age of 26."

Crockett continues to draw public attention, showing no signs of softening her rhetoric despite mounting pressure.

Last week, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also faced backlash after sarcastically mocking a federal judge on social media who had blocked the ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.
