Defense support and more: Zelenskyy announces new security agreements
Ukraine is preparing new security agreements with its partners in the coming weeks. This includes, in particular, defense support, reports President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We are preparing new security agreements with our partners. Very substantive," the president says.
According to him, they concern defense support for Ukrainian soldiers, as well as quite specific financial commitments for the country.
The president also mentions the political cooperation that brings Ukraine closer to greater opportunities, greater interaction with the world, and greater strength.
"In the coming weeks, we are already preparing several new security agreements. Grateful to our teams that are preparing them, grateful to our partners," added the president.
Security commitments for Ukraine
At the NATO Vilnius Summit, the G7 countries signed a declaration on security commitments for Ukraine, to which several dozen countries later joined. This declaration provides for the signing of a bilateral agreement with Ukraine by the signatory country.
The agreement covers not only military assistance but also financial and economic support, as well as the reconstruction of Ukraine. In addition, the agreements include a guarantee of assistance to Ukraine in the event of further aggression by the Russian Federation.
The first such agreement was signed in January with Britain. And this week, documents were signed with Germany and France. In addition, the president's press secretary, Serhii Nykyforov, announced the signing of agreements with two more NATO countries.
