Defense Intelligence of Ukraine releases video of evacuation of Ukrainians from Gaza Strip
On December 8, 2023, on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, 39 more Ukrainian citizens - women and children - were evacuated from the Gaza Strip, according to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
The mission was conducted by the Defense Intelligence Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The successful evacuation of citizens from the conflict zone was made possible by the coordinated and precise actions of Ukrainian intelligence officers and diplomats.
The efforts of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, were crucial in the implementation of the rescue operation.
Evacuation of Ukrainians from the Gaza Strip
After militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas invaded Israel on October 7, Tel Aviv launched a large-scale military operation against the terrorists.
As a result of the fighting and the partial occupation of the enclave by the Israeli army, the region was blockaded and subjected to large-scale destruction with a high number of civilian casualties.
The first group of Ukrainians was evacuated from Gaza in early November. Since then, the evacuation has not stopped and continues to this day.
Today, December 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to evacuate nearly 40 Ukrainians from Gaza.
On December 1, Ukraine's ambassador to Israel, Yevhen Korniychuk, said that some 500 more Ukrainians may remain in the Palestinian enclave.
