Russian invaders used both Shahed kamikaze drones and other UAVs for the air attack on Ukrainian territory tonight. Five enemy targets were destroyed by air defense forces, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the morning summary at the military command, it was noted that during the night of April 28, the Russian forces attacked Ukraine with a total of 9 drones.

"During the night, Russian occupiers once again attacked Ukraine, engaging 4 Shahed-type UAVs and 5 unidentified UAVs," the publication stated.

According to the General Staff, air defenders destroyed all enemy Shahed-type drones, as well as 1 unidentified UAV.

"Using the air defense forces of Ukraine, all Shahed-type UAVs and 1 unidentified UAV were destroyed," military officials said.

Not just drones were used

As Commander of the Air Force Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk revealed, the enemy also launched a surface-to-air missile S-300 from the Belgorod region (Russia) for an aerial strike on Ukraine.

4 Shaheds were launched from Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea), and 5 unidentified drones from the occupied part of the Kherson region.

Air attack was repelled in 5 regions

"As a result of the combat work of anti-aircraft missile units and calculations of mobile fire groups of the Air Force, all four Shaheds were destroyed in:

  • Kyiv region,
  • Vinnytsia region,
  • Khmelnytskyi region,
  • and Kirovohrad region.

One unidentified drone was destroyed by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mykolaiv region," the general said.

Night drone attack

It is worth noting that on the evening of April 27, the Russian forces launched a group of kamikaze drones to strike Ukrainian territory. Air alerts were sounded in several regions. Enemy barrage munitions maneuvered for several hours, reaching even the western part of the country.

Military officials announced the cessation of the threat from the enemy's attack drones at 03:54.

However, later, Russian occupiers launched a new group of drones for an aerial attack. Explosions were heard in Mykolaiv during the alert.
