Defense forces down 35 Shahed drones overnight - Ukrainian Air Force
Ukrainian military shot down 35 out of 39 Shahed attack drones that Russian invaders used for an aerial strike on our country's territory overnight on March 10, reported Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykola Oleshchuk and the Telegram channel of the Armed Forces command.
The general thanked "everyone who ensured the result!"
Drones and missiles
As clarified by the Armed Forces, in addition to the 39 Shaheds, Russians also launched 4 guided anti-aircraft missiles S-300 at the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions in Ukraine.
Regarding the attack drones, the enemy launched them from Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea and from the Russian Primorsko-Akhtarsk.
Air attack repel
It is noted that the combat work to shoot down enemy kamikaze drones took place overnight in ten regions.
"As a result of combat operations, 35 Shaheds were shot down within the Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Odesa, Kherson, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, and Zhytomyr regions," sky defenders stated.
Features of air defense work
The military added that the majority of targets were destroyed by the forces and means of mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force, and electronic warfare means were also involved in repelling the air attack.
Nighttime air attack
Late in the evening of March 9, air alarms were sounded in several regions of Ukraine due to the detection of launches of Russian kamikaze drones of the Shahed type.
Around eleven in the evening, air defense operations in Odesa were reported, where explosions were also heard. There were also reports of explosions in Snihurivka, Mykolaiv region. Later, the head of the Snihurivka Military Administration, Ivan Kuhta, revealed that power lines were damaged in the Pavlivka village starosta okruh of the region. As a result, power outages in surrounding villages are possible.
According to the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the occupiers continued to launch new groups of Shaheds at Ukraine.
Later, around five in the morning, explosions were reported in the Khmelnytskyi region during the air alarm.
