US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the mineral resources agreement between Ukraine and the United States is ready. The wording has already been finalized, with only the document signing remaining, a White House Correspondent for FOX Business Edward Lawrence says on his X account.

According to the US Treasury Secretary, the agreement is set to be signed today, February 28, when Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump meet in Washington. He also emphasized the significance of this agreement.

"It (the agreement – ed.) is finalized, it’s on paper, and the Ukrainian government has approved it. Tomorrow (February 28 – ed.), the heads of state are expected to sign it. This is an agreement on mineral resources, oil, gas, and infrastructure assets. It’s truly a mutually beneficial deal because it brings the Ukrainian people and the American business community closer together," a Ukrainian news resource Suspilne quoted Bessent’s comments to Fox Business.

Furthermore, the US Treasury Secretary noted that this agreement demonstrates the benefits for Washington to American citizens and "eliminates any possibility of corruption by using the best American practices."

As of Wednesday, February 26, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the parties had practically finalized the agreement on rare earth minerals. According to him, the agreement is called the "Agreement on Establishing Rules and Conditions for the Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund."
