Czech President allows several dozen citizens to join Ukrainian Armed Forces
Czech President Petr Pavel has authorized several dozen Czech citizens to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In total, Czechs submitted nearly 200 requests for permission.
According to the President's spokesperson, Filip Platoš, more than 180 Czechs have asked Pavel to allow them to join the Ukrainian army.
According to Czech law, citizens cannot participate in military or paramilitary formations abroad without the permission of the president.
Currently, according to the media, it is known that President Pavel has authorized 60 citizens to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, there is no information on how many applications were rejected.
Assistance to Ukraine from Czechia
This year, the Czech Republic has found a large number of shells to donate to Ukraine in non-EU countries.
However, their purchase required funding from international partners. This is the issue that the Czech government has addressed.
Several countries allocated funds, and on June 25, the first batch of shells from the Czech initiative arrived in Ukraine.
In July, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine had received the first 50,000 shells, some of which are already being used at the front.
