This year, Ukraine has already received one million rounds of heavy-caliber ammunition under the Czech initiative, states Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

During the virtual Coalition of the Willing meeting on August 13, the Czech Prime Minister highlighted the coordination of positions with US President Donald Trump.

He also welcomed the participation of US Vice President JD Vance in the coalition meeting for the first time.

“I can also report that, as of today, through the Czech ammunition supply initiative, we have already delivered one million rounds of heavy-caliber ammunition to Ukraine this year,” Fiala added.

Additionally, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Ukraine plans to receive 1.8 million artillery shells by the end of the year under the Czech initiative.

Coalition of the Willing video summit

The Coalition of the Willing was established on March 2, 2025. It brings together a group of European countries committed to supporting Ukraine in its full-scale war with Russia.

One of the allies’ initiatives is to send a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine once the active phase of the war ends.

On August 15, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska to discuss ways to achieve a complete ceasefire and end the war.

However, EU officials are concerned that Trump, in a bilateral format with Putin, could decide Ukraine’s future and Europe’s security.

In response, on August 13, the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing held a video conference with Trump to discuss key positions.

During the meeting, Trump confirmed his intention to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine with Putin.

Ukraine and its European allies also agreed with the US president on joint principles for ending the war.
