Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reveals shell deliveries to Ukraine under Czech initiative by year's end

Ukraine plans to receive about 1.8 million artillery shells under the Czech initiative by the end of the year, the Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha reports.
"Czechia is making practical contributions to joint security and defense. Thanks to the Czech shell initiative launched in 2024, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are to receive about 1.8 million artillery munitions by the end of this year," the Foreign Minister noted.
Sybiha also emphasized that ammunition purchased using frozen Russian assets is an example of Czechia's decisive and bold actions. According to the Minister, Ukraine welcomes the continuation of the shell initiative in the future.
Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukrainian Armed Forces
Last year, Czech President Petr Pavel stated that his country had found 800,000 shells that could be purchased for Ukraine. The Head of state clarified that the shells could be delivered within a few weeks, but funding was required.
Already in June 2024, Czechia reported that the first batch of artillery shells purchased under its initiative had arrived in Ukraine.
Czech Defense Minister Jana Černochová also said that the Czech initiative to supply ammunition is ongoing. According to Černochová, by the end of April 2025, 400,000 large-caliber munitions were to be delivered to Ukraine.
