Cyprus is interested in cooperating with Ukraine in the defense sector. In particular, this concerns the purchase of drones and the analysis of the use of artificial intelligence, according to the Ambassador of Cyprus to Ukraine, Michalis Firillas.

"I had meetings with senior officers of our army. They are extremely interested in dialogue with the Ukrainian military at various levels," Firillas says.

According to him, this concerns not only drones, but also the use of artificial intelligence on the battlefield, as well as the asymmetric nature of the conflict, i.e., the ratio of the size of Ukrainian forces to a significantly larger enemy.

"Therefore, we definitely want to engage in dialogue on this issue. We are looking to explore various ways of cooperation," the Ambassador of Cyprus to Ukraine adds.

Ukraine developing its own drones

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has been actively developing drones. During the massive Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of September 7, Ukrainian interceptor drones destroyed over 150 Russian drones.

The UK will work with Ukraine to develop and produce advanced military equipment, including interceptor drones. The first joint project will be a new air defense interceptor called Project OCTOPUS.

Its mass production will begin in the United Kingdom, where they plan to produce thousands of such drones per month for delivery to Ukraine.
