Cyber specialists from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) conducted a series of successful cyberattacks against the resources of the Russian tax and customs service, as well as Russian Railways (RZD), from June 10 to 12, according to RBC-Ukraine's intelligence.

Federal Customs Service and Tax Service

The Federal Customs Service confirmed the DDoS attack but described it as “information exchange with foreign economic activity operators is complicated.”

Services related to Russia’s customs and tax services were also hit, in particular:

  • Contour – the leading Russian developer of digital services for accounting and business;

  • Chestny Znak – the national digital labeling system;

  • GosKlyuch – the electronic signature server.

Russian Railways (RZD)

In particular, hackers successfully attacked the website and mobile service of RZD.

Throughout the past day, June 12, Russians could not purchase train tickets via the railway’s website and mobile application.

The most complaints came from Saint Petersburg, Tver, and also Sverdlovsk regions.

Eventually, “RZhD” confirmed technical issues due to a powerful DDoS attack and recommended Russians buy tickets at ticket offices.

Cyberattacks against Russia

Ukrainian hackers are actively attacking Russia in cyberspace.
The attacks are aimed at disrupting the work of government websites, financial institutions, transport infrastructure, and energy supply systems.

For example, recently, HUR cyber specialists, with the support of cyber activists, successfully attacked one of the largest internet providers in Siberia, Orion Telecom.
