Often, a product that was once ideal for the skin has suddenly become less effective. Many people believe that the skin gets used to skincare products, and they stop working. But is it really true?

Can skin get used to products

According to cosmetologist Daria Tishchenko, people often notice that the product they've been using for a long time no longer works for their skin.

In fact, the skin can't get used to the care, but there are certain reasons why the products become less effective.

The plateau effect

Usually, at the beginning of using the product, the skin condition improves noticeably, but over time, the product simply maintains the already achieved result.

Adaptation

Often the skin gets used to the active ingredients, so the reaction becomes less noticeable and this is absolutely normal.

Changes in needs

Season and age-related changes affect the skin's needs. That's why it's important to adjust your skincare routine. If the results are no longer visible, consult an expert.

How to choose care products

For oily skin

Look for products that contain alpha hydroxy acids (glycolic acid or salicylic acid), benzoyl peroxide, and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients effectively control excess sebum production, while hyaluronic acid provides moisturization only in the areas needed.

For dry skin

It is worth choosing products containing shea butter and lactic acid. These ingredients provide moisturizing and gentle exfoliation to make dry skin look radiant.

When it comes to cleanser, choose a mild, moisturizing formula (look for "milky" or "creamy" on the bottle).

For sensitive skin

Search for products containing aloe vera and shea butter. They will soothe and effectively moisturize the skin.
