At the training ground in the Primorsky Krai, soldiers were being prepared for deployment to the border with Ukraine.
A relative of Antonov emphasized in a comment to Vazhnye istorii that the 19-year-old conscript may have been shot for refusing to sign a contract and go to the combat zone.
According to Antonov's relatives, the commanders had been tormenting him, beating him with metal rods on his arms and neck to force him to sign the contract. The body of the deceased not only had a gunshot wound but also bruises.
Conscripts in the Kursk region
Russia used conscripts, rather than professional soldiers, to defend the border in the Kursk region. As a result, during the Kursk operation, Ukrainian forces managed to capture some Russian conscripts.
According to The Washington Post, as of mid-August, at least 250 Russian conscripts who had served in the Kursk region were in Ukrainian captivity.
