The Coalition of the Willing has finally scheduled military exercises on Polish territory. Ukraine will also participate, according to Le Monde.

Military exercises in Poland

On November 9, military exercises for the Coalition of the Willing are scheduled to take place in Nowa Dęba, Poland. The goal is to test the ability of this alliance of 36 countries, led by France and Britain, to deploy its forces in Ukraine after the end of the war.

The Koalicja exercises (translated from Polish as "coalition") will last until November 22. The UІ is not participating in this operation, and its role in future security guarantees for Ukraine remains largely uncertain.

Who is participating

As part of this first deployment in the region bordering Ukraine, nearly 2,800 military personnel from ten countries are to be deployed.

The main participants are:

  • France;
  • Britain;
  • Estonia;
  • Lithuania;
  • Germany;
  • Netherlands;
  • Spain;
  • Sweden;
  • Belgium;
  • Ukraine.

NATO has been informed about the exercises but will not take direct part in them.

What is planned

"However, one should not expect a show of force involving tanks and missiles," Le Monde notes. This will be a test of the command system and logistical procedures related to the movement of troops and equipment across Europe.

"This is a complex task due to the need to cross numerous state borders," Le Monde writes.

An important element of the maneuvers will also be counter-drone warfare.

The first military exercises would take place in Poland in November, during which European countries would practice deploying peacekeeping forces to Ukraine. This will occur after a ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow.

Furthermore, media outlets recently revealed the number of peacekeepers that the West could send to Ukraine.
