Coach shares alternatives to butter in diet
Butter is a high-calorie product, so those aiming to lose weight should avoid it. Excessive consumption can lead to weight gain, clogged arteries, and heart disease, according to Ukrainian coach Yurii Popko.
Butter alternatives for a healthier diet
Philadelphia cream cheese
Yurii Popko suggests that if you're consuming a lot of butter and want to lose weight, it will be challenging due to its high-calorie content. Butter typically contains 76-82% fat. As an alternative, Popko recommends Philadelphia cream cheese, which has 25% fat per 10 grams.
"Personally, I don’t eat it because I don’t like it, but others might like it," he added.
Olive oil
Olive oil is an excellent butter substitute, especially for those with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. One tablespoon contains 124 calories, no cholesterol, and 9% of the daily value of saturated fats.
Replacing saturated fats with monounsaturated fats can help lower cholesterol levels.
Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats and has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
You can replace butter with olive oil in a variety of ways, including:
- Baking recipes requiring softened or melted butter
- Spreading on bread or toast
- Sautéing or roasting vegetables
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is dairy-free and suitable for vegetarian and vegan diets, though it contains about 90% saturated fats.
Use coconut oil for sautéing vegetables or seasoning sauces.
Since it has more solid fats, use 25% less coconut oil than the butter amount required in a recipe.
Nut butter
Nut butter is a much healthier alternative to regular butter. Made by blending roasted nuts, it is rich, creamy, and packed with protein, fiber, and essential nutrients.
Use nut butter as a substitute for sandwiches, baking, sauces, or simply spread it on toast for a nutritious snack.
