'Clean out the whole thing" - Trump unveils plan to resettle Palestinians from Gaza
US President Donald Trump announced that he spoke with King Abdullah II of Jordan. They discussed a potential plan to build housing and resettle more than 1 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other countries, reports CNN.
Trump stated that he asked the king to accept an additional number of Palestinians into his country.
"I said to him that I’d love you to take on more because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip right now and it’s a mess, it’s a real mess," he told reporters.
The US president added that he would like both Jordan and Egypt to host people, and that on Sunday, January 26, he would discuss this with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
“You’re talking about a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing (resettle people - ed.),” said Trump.
He emphasized that the potential housing could be both temporary and long-term.
Ceasefire in the Gaza Strip
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, on January 19, Israel announced the beginning of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after the terrorist group Hamas provided a list of the first hostages, who were later released.
Earlier, Israel and Hamas, with the involvement of mediators, reached an agreement on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages.
