Famous British filmmaker Christopher Nolan has named his favorite movie of 2024. He considers it a wonderful attraction and praised its actors and characters.

In a conversation with Variety, Christofer Nolan admitted that this year, the sequel to Gladiator captivated him, and he gave it a high rating. At the time, not everyone appreciated the continuation of the famous story.
"Scott knows we’re not there for insights into Roman culture; we’re there to see our own dark desires at a comfortable remove. But he’s far too experienced a director to get caught making parallels with our time. He lets the world of Gladiator II speak for itself, once again showing us who we are simply by inviting us to enjoy the crazy inflationary ride," Nolan shares his thoughts on the movie.
"Why are there sharks in the Colosseum? Because we demand them, and Scott masterfully gives them to us. As he reveals how the games are used to manipulate public opinion, we can’t help but see shadows of our own public arena projected onto the sand," adds the director.

About Gladiator II
The movie was directed by Ridley Scott. Its premiere took place in November this year.
The plot picks up 16 years after the events of the previous movie. Lucius, living with his wife on the northern coast of Africa, becomes a slave when the Romans, led by Marcus, invade. The memory of the legendary gladiator Maximus' battles drives him to become a gladiator himself.
Lucius is played by Irish actor Paul Mescal, Marcus by American actor Pedro Pascal, and Lucilla by Danish actress Connie Nielsen.
Gladiator II received a Restricted rating from the Motion Picture Association due to "excessive bloody violence."

Unlike his previous works, Scott stated that Gladiator II would not have a director's cut because he earned the right to his final edit and removed certain scenes during filming, so he did not need to make adjustments after the completion.
Interestingly, in Australia, two versions of the movie were released: the original, uncut version with an MA15+ rating (with a warning for "sensitive themes and violence") and an edited version with an M rating ("cruelty to animals, blood and gore effects, injury details, and violence"), where blood splashes are either shortened or removed.
The MA15+ rating was restored for the uncut home media release with an updated warning for "cruelty to animals, violence, and blood and gore effects.
