Chinese support for Russian weapons industry exposed by intelligence

China is systematically supplying Russia with components intended for military use. These include deliveries of gunpowder, specialized chemicals, machinery, and equipment to at least 20 Russian military factories, according to the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Oleh Ivashchenko, states Ukrinform.
"There is information that China is supplying machinery, specialized chemicals, gunpowder, and components specifically to military enterprises. We have confirmed data on 20 Russian plants," he said.
According to Ivashchenko, at least five instances of aviation-related cooperation between China and Russia were recorded in 2024–2025. In particular, Russia received equipment, spare parts, and technical documentation.
Large shipments of specialized chemicals were also recorded in six cases.
By early 2025, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, up to 80% of critical electronics used in Russian drones originate from China.
In several instances, these supplies were delivered through third countries, using shell companies, falsified names, or forged documentation to conceal the true origin of the shipments.
China’s assistance to Russia
Recently, Ukrainian forces captured two Chinese nationals during battles in Donetsk. It was revealed that they were fighting on Russia’s side.
When the Chinese citizens signed contracts with the Russian armed forces, they were promised they would not be sent to the front lines. However, the Russians deceived them.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated there is evidence showing China is providing military aid to Russia, including artillery and gunpowder.
Despite this, Chinese officials continue to claim their country maintains "neutrality" and supports peace between Ukraine and Russia. Recently, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi urged both sides to explore the “roots” of the conflict.
