Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacts to Russian missile strike on Okhmatdyt
China urges Ukraine and Russia to show restraint in responding to Russia's missile strike on the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv, according to a statement from the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian.
The speaker was asked about China's reaction to yesterday's Russian strike on Okhmatdyt and whether he condemns such actions by the aggressor.
"China's position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear, and all interested parties should responsibly contribute to de-escalating the situation to create conditions for the quickest possible cessation of hostilities and political resolution of the crisis," replied Lin Jian.
He added that China urges Ukraine and Russia to adhere to "three principles of de-escalation": preventing the expansion of hostilities, avoiding escalation, and preventing the involvement of other states in the conflict.
"All parties should exercise calm and restraint and refrain from actions that could lead to further escalation of the situation," Jian noted.
