China has suspended its export ban to the United States on gallium, germanium, antimony, superhard materials, and other rare earth metals, which had been prohibited since December 2024, Reuters reports.

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on November 9 that it would suspend the export ban until November 27, 2026. Previously, the exports had been blocked since December 2024.

The ministry also announced it would suspend end-user and destination checks for the export of "dual-use" graphite to the United States. The suspension will last for one year.

US-China trade relations

On November 6, China temporarily lifted restrictions for one year that had been imposed in March on the supply of dual-use goods to 31 American companies, mostly in the defense and aerospace sectors. The move followed a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea.

After the meeting, Trump announced a 10% reduction in tariffs on Chinese goods, lowering the overall US tariff rate to 47%, a move seen as a partial easing of trade pressure between Washington and Beijing.

Following the summit, China announced it would suspend an additional 24% tariffs on American goods for one year, while the base 10% tariff will remain in effect.
