The Chinese Embassy in the United States has rejected President Donald Trump's claim that Beijing interfered in the 2020 US presidential election, CNN reports.

"China has all along adhered to the principle of non-interference in others' internal affairs. The US election is an internal matter of the US. Its outcome is determined by the votes of the American people," a representative of the Chinese Embassy said.

The source then reiterated that China "has never and will never interfere in the presidential elections of the US."

CNN noted that Beijing has repeatedly denied previous allegations of election interference and political interference made against it by several Western countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

What preceded this

Earlier that night, US President Donald Trump addressed the nation and said that during his first term, some US intelligence officials had deliberately excluded information about Chinese interference in the 2020 election from briefings for him.

In connection with this, Trump announced the declassification of information that allegedly proves Beijing exerted influence and that the US electoral system is vulnerable.

He accused Beijing of allegedly stealing millions of records on US elected officials, paying for some materials containing negative articles about the president, meaning Trump himself, and wanting Trump to lose.

At the same time, US intelligence agencies have officially long concluded that China did not interfere in the election.
