China reacts to fighting in Kursk region, reminds of 'three principles'
China has taken notice of the situation unfolding in Russia's Kursk region. Beijing’s stance on the full-scale war remains consistent and clear, according to an unnamed spokesperson from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
"The Chinese side calls on all parties to adhere to three principles for de-escalating the situation: the combat zone should not be expanded, escalation of the armed conflict should be avoided, and provocations leading to an increase in hostilities by any party should not be allowed," the MFA said.
The spokesperson also added that Beijing will continue to maintain contact with the international community and play a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the "Ukrainian crisis."
Fighting in Kursk region
On August 6, Russia claimed that Ukrainian Defense Forces had breached the border in the Kursk region. Propagandists then began to complain about the advancement of Ukrainian forces deeper into Russian territory.
As a result, a counter-terrorism operation regime was introduced in three regions of the terrorist state, namely in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions.
On August 11, Russian officials reported a night-time breach in the Belovsky area of the Kursk region.
According to analysts from the Institute for the Study of War, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance on enemy territory despite Russia's claims of "stabilizing the situation."
