China provides economic and security support to Russia - US intelligence
American intelligence stated that China has recently been providing economic and security support to Russia, according to Sky News.
"An ambitious but anxious China, a confrontational Russia, some regional powers, such as Iran, and more capable non-state actors are challenging longstanding rules of the international system as well as US primacy within it," states a report by the US intelligence, which was published after CIA directors testified in the Senate.
The report also emphasizes that trade between China and Russia has been increasing since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with Chinese exports of potential military use goods more than tripling since 2022.
China-Russia relations
China has started to strengthen its ties with Russia more closely after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In particular, Beijing refused to join the sanctions imposed by the US against the Kremlin. China and Russia share a mutual interest in challenging US dominance in the world order, as their relations with democratic countries become increasingly tense.
In October of last year, the US Department of Defense stated that China, despite its denials, is supplying arms to Russia. This includes drones, small arms, and equipment.
At the same time, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi assured his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, that Beijing is not supplying lethal weapons to Russia.
