China may have 1000 nukes by 2030 - Pentagon
China has significantly accelerated the modernization of its armed forces and is building up its nuclear arsenal. According to US analysts, China could have at least 1,000 nuclear warheads by 2030, Pentagon report states.
Over the past year alone, China has increased the number of warheads by 100 and now has more than 600.
It is noted that the country is also actively developing intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.
There are also reports on China's real defense spending. They are estimated at $330-450 billion in 2024, which is 40% more than officially stated by the Chinese side.
However, according to US analysts, the US defense budget remains the largest in the world, reaching $880 billion.
It is also pointed out that China has the largest navy in the world, with more than 370 ships and submarines. At the same time, the new aircraft carrier Fujian is planned to be commissioned in 2025.
At the same time, China is actively increasing the production of the J-20 stealth fighter, preparing new plants for its large-scale production. It is reported that out of 1900 fighters, about 1300 are advanced fourth-generation models.
Despite rapid modernization, the People's Liberation Army of China faces serious corruption problems.
It is noted that last year, 15 high-ranking officials were fired for corruption related to defense projects.
Despite significant technological advances, according to US analysts, China has difficulties in providing effective logistics for actions far beyond its coast, which limits its ability to influence regions beyond the South China Sea.
It is worth noting that the United States is currently reviewing its nuclear strategy against the backdrop of China's and Russia's growing arsenals.
Therefore, a war between the United States and Russia or China is not unlikely at this time. For more details, see RBC-Ukraine's article.
