China's Foreign Ministry officially confirmed that US President Donald Trump will pay a state visit to China on May 13-15 at the invitation of Xi Jinping, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reports.
What is known
The visit will last three days, from May 13 to May 15. Official confirmation from Beijing arrived on the morning of May 11. Earlier, White House reported that the open ceremony and negotiations would take place on Thursday, while the visit would end on Friday.
Main topics of talks are the Iran war, China's purchase of Iranian oil, trade relations, and rare earth metals.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on China to use the visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to Beijing to directly convey to Tehran that continued blocking of the Strait of Hormuz would lead to global isolation of Iran. Rubio emphasized that such actions also harm the Chinese economy.
Earlier visit, preliminarily scheduled for May, was postponed due to military operation by the US and Israel against Iran, which began at the end of February.
