Check your makeup bags - Makeup artist told what danger they can pose

Proper skin care can help you achieve a flawless look. However, inadequate cleaning of makeup brushes and other products in a cosmetic bag can lead to skin irritation and even infections, reports The Mirror.
What dangers can cosmetic bags hide
Many people keep their cosmetics in makeup bags or handbags, thinking it's safe.
Makeup artist Safron Hughes said that every time you apply makeup, dead skin cells and bacteria from your brushes are transferred to your makeup bag. Studies have shown that 90% of makeup bags are contaminated with dangerous bacteria such as E. coli, strep, and staph because they are not washed regularly.
The situation can be even worse for those who keep their makeup bags under the sink or in the shower. The warm and humid environment can accelerate the formation of mold and become an ideal breeding ground for parasites.
How to avoid the danger
Always close the products
You should always keep your products closed when you are not using them. Also, whenever you use the product, always check that the lid is tightly closed. This simple step prevents moist air from entering the product and avoids ideal conditions for bacterial growth.
Clean not only brushes
It's also easy to forget that makeup products themselves need cleaning, not just brushes or applicators. Dust, dead skin cells, and product buildup can accumulate on makeup products.
"Beauty blenders and other makeup sponges can form mold if they are not washed after each use. Their porous structure allows them to absorb dirt, oils, and makeup residue, creating an environment where mold thrives if not cleaned regularly. This can lead to rashes and other skin irritations," the expert noted.
Get rid of expired products
Before opening any new cosmetic product, always check the expiration date on the label.
After the expiration date, the quality of the products is lost and they can become a breeding ground for bacteria.
Check the quality of products
If you are not sure about the expiration date of a product, you can determine it by sight and touch.
One of the easiest ways to tell if your product is past its expiration date is by its smell or texture. If there is a new pungent odor or the product has become liquid or thick, then it should be thrown away.
Keep cosmetic bags clean
Dirty makeup bags and pouches, drawers, and surfaces can contaminate your beautiful clean products.
If you don't clean your drawers or storage areas, your clean products end up in potentially germy places.
