Carpet plan activated at Nizhny Novgorod Airport, all flights canceled
Early in the morning on October 22, the Carpet plan was implemented at Nizhny Novgorod Airport in Russia. The air hub was not accepting or dispatching flights, likely due to the presence of drones, according to Russian Telegram channels.
Specifically, a flight that was scheduled to arrive from Kaliningrad was redirected to Moscow. The airport was closed to arrivals and departures starting around 5 a.m. According to the Telegram channel Baza, the restrictions were implemented until 6:05 a.m., but operations at the facility were suspended until approximately 7 a.m.
Some other channels reported that the restrictions were likely related to the threat of drone attacks.
Rosaviatsiya confirmed the flight restrictions but did not specify the reasons. About an hour ago, they announced that the restrictions had been lifted.
On the night of October 22, unidentified drones attacked Yefremov in the Tula region of Russia. Residents reported that the attacks targeted a synthetic rubber plant, leading to a fire. There were also suggestions that drones fell near a local thermal power plant. Authorities claimed that the premises of the Yefremov distillery and another distillery in the village of Luzhkovskyi in the Suvorovsky district were affected.
Reports early in the morning indicated that as a result of the nighttime drone attacks, an explosion followed by a fire occurred at the Biokhim facility in the Tambov region. An industrial enterprise in the Voronezh region was also on fire.
