Cardiologist Dr. Ernst von Schwarz, author of the book "Secrets of Immortality," has identified 5 habits that everyone should avoid. These habits negatively impact health and pose significant risks to the heart, writes Daily Express.

What harms the heart

According to the doctor, these habits are very dangerous. However, many people still knowingly jeopardize their health. The list of harmful habits includes:

  • Smoking - besides being detrimental to the entire body, nicotine causes the narrowing of coronary arteries, leading to heart attacks and strokes.

  • Consuming excessive sugar - poor nutrition increases the risk of ischemic heart disease, provoked by obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.

  • Sedentary lifestyle - avoiding physical activity results in the loss of vascular elasticity, increasing the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and even death.

  • Gadget addiction - regular social media "surfing" leads to prolonged sitting or lying down, which can cause various heart problems.

  • Drug use - according to the doctor, prohibited substances pose a "toxic" threat to the heart muscle, narrowing blood vessels, leading to subsequent attacks.

To protect the heart and the entire body, the cardiologist recommends adopting several healthy habits, including sports, proper nutrition, giving up harmful behaviors, weight control, and maintaining a regular sleep schedule.

Recently, it became known that a cardiologist has identified screenings that need to be periodically undergone.
