Canadian Prime Minister strongly condemned Russia's sham elections in occupied territories of Ukraine
The leader of the Canadian government strongly condemned Russia's sham elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine. He emphasized that Putin and the supporters of the Russian regime will be held accountable for their actions, states Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
He noted that the attempt by the Russian dictator to hold so-called elections in the occupied Ukrainian territories is a cynical effort to legitimize military conquest under the guise of democracy. Trudeau stated that Canada will never recognize the results of these fake "elections."
"The false choice offered to people in the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, as well as the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, is an attack on Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. These sham elections are serious violations of international law, including the United Nations Charter," said the Canadian Prime Minister.
Trudeau added that his country will continue to support Ukraine unconditionally.
"Putin will not redraw the map as he pleases, and Ukraine’s territory shall remain Ukraine’s," the Canadian leader emphasized.
Sham elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine
Russian occupiers have once again decided to hold illegal fake elections in the occupied territories on September 10. Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN has called on the international community to impose strict sanctions against Russia in response to such actions.
In Germany, it was noted that these sham elections were simply a propaganda stunt that Berlin would not recognize. According to the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, terrorists are using these elections to strengthen their illegal claims to the occupied territories.
