Canada is preparing a new package of sanctions against Russia. This time, it is related to the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and other civilian citizens by the aggressor country, according to a statement from Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.

"This is one of the outcomes of the Ministerial Conference in Montreal. The new package of sanctions was announced by Canada's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly," Lubinets explained.

At the same time, he emphasized that the imposition of sanctions is one of the methods of pressure on Russia.

"We need sanctions not only against the country itself but also against specific officials involved in the deportation of children and the illegal abduction of civilians," the ombudsman stressed.

Earlier today, Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly stated at the Montreal conference on the peace formula that Canada is trying to persuade other countries to lift restrictions on the use of weapons for Ukraine.
