Can Trump force Ukraine to concede territories: Zelenskyy's perspective
US presidential candidate Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his intention to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. However, he will not be able to force Ukraine to make concessions, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the South Korean television channel KBS.
According to him, the new US president may either strengthen or weaken support for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy noted that a reduction in support would allow Russia to occupy more Ukrainian territory and would prevent Ukraine from achieving victory in the war.
"Therefore, we are not talking about compromises and territories; we are discussing that there may be certain diplomatic paths, but they depend on US policy, as long as it does not weaken, and the willingness of the US to genuinely end the war quickly," the president added.
The head of state reminded that "Trump has declared that he is a man of action and wants to end the war quickly and find some model."
"But if Trump, in the event of victory, wants to force Ukraine to give everything up to negotiate with Russia, then I do not think that this is possible today," Zelenskyy emphasized.
It should be noted that earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is open to quick steps proposed by US presidential candidate Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine. However, Russia must pay for its aggression.
Recently, former US President Donald Trump and his vice-presidential candidate J.D. Vance outlined a plan to end the war in Ukraine. They proposed a model of frozen conflict with autonomous regions on both sides of the demilitarized zone, while Kyiv would remain outside NATO.
