US President Donald Trump does not know whether King Charles III's state visit will improve his relationship with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, according toUK faces danger, former NATO chief criticizes Starmer
"I thought he was fantastic. It was a brilliant speech. It was delivered beautifully, with that beautiful accent that he's got. And everybody… he got a standing ovation. And I thought it was fantastic in all respects," Trump said about King Charles.
The US leader also hinted that he might revisit last year's trade deal and offer London the worst terms, amid his frustration that, in his view, Britain has not provided sufficient support for his war with Iran.
From the very beginning of the war in Iran, the US President directed a wave of criticism at the UK and Starmer for their initial decision not to grant American aircraft access to the Diego Garcia and Fairford airbases for strikes against Iran.
Recently, Starmer stated that he does not intend to yield to the US President on the war in Iran, despite hints of a potential change to the trade agreement between the countries.
Trump called for help
US President Donald Trump called on European countries to help him in the war against Iran by providing space for airbases, as well as sending ships to the Strait of Hormuz.
However, NATO allies in Europe refused Trump, causing tensions between the countries and statements from the US about leaving the Alliance.
Senior NATO official Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone recently discussed whether the alliance would survive if America withdraws.
