Bus traffic blocked at one of checkpoints at Polish-Ukrainian border
Polish protesters have initiated a blockade halting the movement of buses at one of the border checkpoints with Ukraine, specifically the Medyka-Shehyni crossing point, according to Andriy Demchenko, the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
Ukrainian border guards informed their Polish counterparts about the blocking of passenger bus traffic as part of protest actions.
The restriction on bus movement began around 11:10 AM today. Organizers of these actions are obstructing traffic on the road leading to the Medyka checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian Shehyni checkpoint.
Polish protesters plan to allow only one bus every two hours, both inbound and outbound from Ukraine. The duration of the blockade remains unknown.
"We urge carriers and citizens planning to travel across the Ukrainian-Polish border to take this information into account. Any updates on the resumption of regular bus traffic at the Shehyni checkpoint will be provided additionally through the resources of the State Border Guard Service," the spokesperson said.
Border blockade incidents
In February, protests along the Polish-Ukrainian border reemerged, with farmers blocking checkpoints and even dumping Ukrainian grain.
Today, Poland is witnessing widespread protests by farmers demanding the fulfillment of their conditions regarding the "green course" and restrictions on Ukrainian products.
According to Polish media, the Polish authorities have reached an agreement with farmers for the temporary closure of the border with Ukraine for the transit of certain agricultural products.
