On Tuesday, August 12, mass searches of arms dealers are taking place in Bulgaria. They were requested by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, according to the acting secretary general of the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Miroslav Rashkov.

The operation is being carried out in several regions under the supervision of the Bulgarian National Investigation Service. Searches are being conducted at addresses in several cities.

He specified that no arrests had been made in connection with these searches so far.

Numerous investigators from the National Investigation Service, employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the Main Directorate of Gendarmerie, Special Operations, and Counterterrorism, are participating in the searches.

Earlier, the Bulgarian Supreme Prosecutor's Office of Cassation said it was overseeing searches and seizures from arms dealers at the request of Kyiv in connection with an investigation into corruption in the sale of weapons at inflated prices.

Searches at Shurma's residence

Recently, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine conducted searches at the residence of former Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Rostyslav Shurma in Germany.

NABU Director Semen Kryvonos did not disclose details about the case in which the searches took place.
