Britney Spears is back in the spotlight. The 44-year-old singer was arrested by police on suspicion of driving under the influence. After the arrest, she contacted her family, and her former partners issued statements.

What we know about Britney Spears' arrest
The singer was taken into custody on the evening of March 4 in Ventura County, California. She was suspected of driving under the influence of a combination of alcohol and drugs.
After spending the night in custody, she was released, but she will face court. Her hearing is scheduled for May 4.
Soon after the incident, Spears sent a message to her longtime friend and former assistant Sean Filipp.
"She said, 'I'm OK,'" he said.
According to him, the incident did not affect his view of the singer or her character.
"She is one of the most strong women that I've ever like met. She's just keeps on going," he added.

Family and sons' reaction
Spears contacted her family after the incident. Her mother, Lynne, expressed support for her daughter. According to sources, their conversation was positive and full of hope.
The singer’s representative said she will take the right steps and comply with the law.
"his was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time," he said.
The singer is also supported by her sons from her marriage to Kevin Federline – Sean and Jayden. The boys plan to spend time with their mom during this difficult period.

Support from former boyfriends
Britney's arrest has once again raised questions about the necessity of ending her conservatorship. Former partners Sam Asghari and Jason Alexander stepped in to defend the star.
"Everybody makes mistakes and everybody deserves privacy. If we learn from history, we have to understand the press could hurt somebody recovering from a situation like this," Sam said.
"Britney Spears deserves the same thing anyone else does: facts, fairness, and due process," Jason added.
As for Federline, according to his lawyer, he wishes Britney the best and hopes she won’t resist if she needs help.
