British Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed the war in Ukraine with US President Donald Trump. The conversation took place on the eve of Trump's phone call with Vladimir Putin, according to Sky News.

Keir Starmer had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump last night.

The main topic of discussion was the war in Ukraine and Trump's desire to help end it.

Starmer emphasized that Kyiv should take the strongest possible position to achieve a just and lasting peace. He also informed Trump about the upcoming meetings of the coalition of countries supporting Ukraine, noting that more than 30 countries will take part in them.

The conversation between the politicians took place on the eve of Trump's phone call with Russia's Vladimir Putin, and against the backdrop of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's call for allies to increase pressure on the Kremlin to accept the ceasefire proposal.

Trump to talk to Putin about possible ceasefire

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will hold talks with Vladimir Putin on March 18. The parties are expected to discuss the 30-day ceasefire proposed by the United States, which was also offered to Ukraine earlier.

After the meeting with the US delegation, Putin said that the implementation of the ceasefire has certain “nuances.” At the same time, Trump expressed confidence that Russia would “agree” to the proposed ceasefire.
