Not only US but also British military personnel are leaving Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, according to The i Paper.
The outlet notes that personnel of the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) were stationed at Al Udeid Air Base alongside US forces.
Journalists specify that an RAF tanker aircraft departed from RAF Akrotiri Air Base in Cyprus toward Al Udeid, but flight data showed that it later turned back toward Europe.
Al Udeid Air Base
Al Udeid is the largest US base in the region, hosting about 10,000 American service members. In June 2025, it was hit by Iranian missiles following a US strike on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Last year, some personnel and their family members were withdrawn from US bases in the Middle East a week before the United States carried out airstrikes on Iran.
Today, January 14, NBC News, citing sources, reported that US troops have begun leaving Al Udeid Air Base.
Qatar’s International Media Office said that measures to withdraw forces from Al Udeid are being taken "in response to the current regional tensions."
Washington took these steps amid statements by President Donald Trump that he may respond with force to the situation in Iran, where security forces are killing protesters opposing the regime of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
