Brazil to remain neutral regarding Russia-Ukraine war - President Lula
Brazil will maintain its neutral stance in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, asserting that those involved in the war who now seek dialogue with Brazil should have done so before the hostilities began, according to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
"It is important for Brazil to stay out of this conflict and advocate for a peaceful resolution. Those who wish to speak with us now could have done so before the war started," Lula said.
The president further added that while Brazil has condemned the Russian invasion, it continues to push for a peaceful solution, aiming to avoid involvement in any military actions.
Backstory
China and Brazil have agreed on a joint "peace plan" to address the conflict in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian officials have criticized these initiatives.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that such alternative peace proposals are mere political statements lacking concrete measures or a clear plan of action.
Recently, Zelenskyy labeled the China-Brazil peace plan as "destructive," stating that it does not reflect the reality on the ground and was pre-arranged with the Kremlin.
