Brad Pitt’s third child renounces father’s surname publicly

In the former family of Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, changes related to their high-profile divorce are continuing. It has become known that their daughter Zahara, following in the footsteps of other children of the stars, has decided to officially remove her father’s surname from her documents. She has thus become the third child of the former couple to take such a step, according to People.

21-year-old Zahara filed a petition with a California court to change her name. If the request is approved, she will officially use her mother’s surname — Jolie.
Rumors about the possible decision had been circulating among fans for a long time. In particular, during her college graduation ceremony, she was introduced as Zahara Jolie, without mentioning Pitt’s surname. She has also previously used this name at public events.
Children distancing themselves from their father
Before Zahara, a similar decision was already made by her sister Shiloh and brother Maddox. In addition, media reports have repeatedly stated that other children of the famous family are increasingly using only their mother’s surname in public spaces.

What is known about Jolie and Pitt’s split
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated in 2016 after about 12 years together. The main reason was allegedly a conflict between the actor and their eldest son, Maddox, during a private jet flight. Following the incident, the actor was investigated by social services and the FBI, but no charges were filed against him.
After the breakup, a years-long custody battle began between the former spouses. Jolie insisted that the children should primarily live with her, while Pitt sought broader parental rights. The court disputes lasted for years and repeatedly made headlines in global tabloids.
As for the final settlement of all legal matters, the former couple only managed to resolve them at the end of 2024. This is why their divorce is considered one of the longest and most scandalous in Hollywood history.
