On Wednesday, November 13, the Fifth Kyiv Jewish Forum opened, organized by the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine and chaired by its President and Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, Boris Lozhkin.

KJF is an annual event that brings together global leaders to exchange views and suggestions on the most pressing issues facing Jewish communities around the world.

Lozhkin noted that this year’s forum is unique as it follows closely after the U.S. elections and is largely focused on how the election results will impact Ukraine, Israel, and the global Jewish community. The United States, he noted, plays a significant role in shaping the outcomes of independence struggles worldwide.

“I welcome the choice of the American people and want to congratulate Donald Trump on his victory. Ukrainians and Israelis hold high hopes for the return of an administration that has shown determination in supporting both Ukraine and Israel,” said the President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine.

He noted that during Trump’s previous presidency, Ukraine began to receive more robust military support, aiding its defense against Russian aggression. Trump also achieved unprecedented progress for Israel, as seen in the historic Abraham Accords, which brought peace closer to the Middle East and moved toward reconciliation between Israel and the Arab world.

“I sincerely believe that the bipartisan and bicameral unity in supporting Ukraine and Israel in their struggle for independence and peace will continue,” Lozhkin emphasized.

This year’s KJF will also cover topics such as the ongoing threats posed by Russia, Iran, and North Korea, the rising tide of anti-Semitism in diasporas, and the importance of strengthening Jewish ties between Israel, the United States, and Ukraine.

The forum is being held online, with its primary venue in Washington, D.C., and co-organized by the prominent Israeli media outlet The Jerusalem Post.
