Boos instead of applause: EU's Kallas supports crowd's reaction to Vance

The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, supported the audience that booed US Vice President JD Vance, who came to Italy for the Winter Olympics in Milan, reports Euronews.

“I guess we have heard a lot of not so nice words from United States regarding Europe. And of course, our public also has a pride, European pride. So it shows,” Kallas said, commenting on the reaction of Europeans to Vance's visit to Italy.
At the opening of the Olympic Games at the San Siro stadium in Milan, Vance and his wife Usha were loudly booed and shouted at from the stands when they briefly appeared on the big screen waving US flags.
Winter Olympics in Milan
Italy is hosting the 25th Winter Olympic Games from February 6. More than 2,900 athletes from over 90 countries, including 46 Ukrainians, are competing in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The 2026 Games program has expanded to 116 finals in 16 sports. The main news is the inclusion of ski mountaineering, a spectacular combination of ski racing and mountaineering. Fans will also see women's doubles in luge and pairs moguls in freestyle for the first time.
Today, February 10, is the fourth day of competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Throughout the day, 14 representatives of the Ukrainian national team will compete in five sports.
