Ukraine is negotiating with the United States to acquire additional air defense systems, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
He noted that recovery work is ongoing after last night’s strike.
"It was a massive attack, with many ballistic missiles — at least 25 — and also aeroballistic and cruise missiles, plus over 450 drones of various types. Very bold, in many ways a demonstrative strike," Zelenskyy said.
The president emphasized that only a few systems in the world can effectively intercept the ballistic and aeroballistic missiles Russia is using against Ukraine.
"We are working with partners, with the United States, to buy additional Patriot systems. We are counting heavily on support," Zelenskyy said.
He added that fully protecting Ukraine’s territory requires many more air defense systems and missiles. He thanked all international partners helping to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.
Attack on November 8
On the night of November 8, Russia carried out another massive combined attack on Ukraine using various types of missiles and strike drones. The main targets were energy infrastructure facilities.
The attack caused emergency power outages and disruptions at critical facilities in several regions. Kremenchuk suffered the most damage, temporarily losing electricity. The disruption to power networks also caused delays for Ukrzaliznytsia trains.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched 503 aerial attack systems across the country during the night.
Yurii Ihnat, head of communications for the Air Force command, noted that Russia continues to deliberately strike critical infrastructure, increasingly using ballistic missiles.
The Russian army carried out attacks throughout the night using drones and missiles. Full details of the combined strike are available in the RBC-Ukraine report.
